The Royal Peacock Logo: The certification trademark of Thai silk standards

The Royal Peacock Logo

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, Queen of Thailand, has established a strict quality control programme for Thai silk. The programme protects the health, safety and well-being of the people making the silk at the same time as it sets high standards of quality for the fabric produced.

The Royal Peacock logo is the certification trademark of Thai silk standards under The Queen Sirikit Institute of Sericulture, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. The logo is registered in 22 countries and certifies that the silk bearing the logo conforms to the defined standards. All silk certified with the Royal Peacock logo must be produced in Thailand.

The standards define four grades of silk fabric: gold, silver, blue, and green. These grades emphasise the quality of raw materials and processes used in producing the silk.

All silk certified under these standards is inspected by a registered government inspector and a numbered seal is placed at every meter along the length of the fabric.
